Rita Carson - Manager, CPLP Certification Program
The role of the volunteer Director of CPLP (Certified Professional in Learning and Performance) for the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTDps) is to support and enhance the advancement of CPLP certification in our region.
Rita is passionate about helping people get results. She remains dedicated to the adventure of making a positive impact through learning and development within organizations and as an independent WLP consultant. Rita says “I truly believe that learning can solve anything. The key is to find out who needs to learn what to get the results you want!”
She earned the Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) in November 2010. Once she recognized the significance of the credential for the profession, Rita has been committed to helping others learn more about it, understand what it means to have it, and work toward achieving it!
William (Bud) Wurtz, Ph.D. - Manager, Public Resource Information
The role of the volunteer Director of Public Resource Information & Strategies for the Puget Sound Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD-PS) is to advance the organization’s strategic goal to raise the profile of public information resources, policy, advocacy initiatives and strategy impacting Workplace Learning and Performance (WLP) profession in our region including those initiatives endorsed by ASTD national.
Bud is a learning psychologist (PhD, Texas A&M University, 2008) with an independent training and coaching practice. Prior to earning his doctorate, he had a long career with four Fortune 500 companies as a manager and senior consultant in learning and performance. Bud is also a graduate of Corporate Coach U. and the University of Washington E-learning design and development certificate. He has homes in both the Seattle area and Washington, DC.
Michelle Beckman - Social Media Coordinator
The Social Media Coordinator is in charge of the ASTD Puget Sound Chapter’s social media presence. This role is responsible for the day-to-day activities associated with the chapters LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter accounts. This role consists of but is not limited to posting relevant news, events, multimedia elements, links and other messages on a regular basis to identified social media tools. This position is to foster community, promote ASTDps brand and stimulate communication and dialogue within our virtual communities.
