ASTDps :: February 2010 Chapter Meeting (Feb 16, 2010)

Feb 16 2010 - 7:30am
Feb 16 2010 - 9:30am

“Unconventional & Effective Scenario-based Training”

“Knowledge Used is Bettered Remembered” - an old adage with a new challenge.  With the saturation of technology, web-based instruction, and a reduction in interpersonal training, examining our commitment to live scenarios is a smart venture. This program will address revitalizing the use of Compressed Scenarios and a Problem-based (or Solutions-based) training and a powerful facilitation model.  Marcus Mann will present a position on training the multi-generational workforce and propose the use of Scenarios and Solution-based training as an effective tool in bridging the gap.   Register Now!

The innovation attached to this presentation is found in the use of Compressed Scenarios – a learning tool involving increased realism in the classroom and a higher success rate in anchoring objectives. The concept is not new; however, the application is.  The presentation will include the tools (not products) in creating effective, low cost training scenarios. The group will work together in crafting a low maintenance, low-cost solution-based scenario from training-need to actual scenario.  Our ASTD members will leave with a new confidence, value, and appreciation for the art of scenario-based training.
