Director of Public Policy

The Puget Sound Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development is seeking a volunteer Director of Public Policy to advance, through effective government relations, the chapter's mission around workplace learning and performance (WPL) issues. ASTD-PS's WPL public policy agenda is focused on securing government support for training tax credits, lifelong learning, e-learning, strategic human capital management, public-private partnerships, and similar issues that support a high-skilled workforce.The goal/outcome of this position's work is to develop, through information dissemination, issue advocacy, and grassroots activities, active support at all levels of government and from allied organizations around a progressive WPL policy agenda, as defined and approved by the ASTD-PS Board of Directors.

The ideal candidate will have an advanced degree, expertise in WPL issues, and experience working with volunteer governance bodies. Some experience in either working on federal or state government/legislature public policy issues or a working familiarity with the federal/state legislative processes and governmental structures is highly desirable.

It is estimated that this role will require, on average, 2 hours per week.
